Road to "reducing my possessions"

During the extensive lockdown, I finally succumbed to the popular de-cluttering expert method. Honestly, I am a pack rat, my drawer still holds birthday cards friends sent from ages ago, not to mention boarding pass and entrance tickets from different countries, in different languages. This post is all about reducing books in my possession.

Owning a Kindle reader was my first step into reducing items I own. As someone who enjoys holding physical books (not to mention enjoying the new books’ scent like a “junkie”), I have lots of books. The process of deciding whether to get an e-book reader was a seesaw battle. The price of the Kindle model I was looking for was equivalent to a decent tablet. A tablet would help me lots at that time. But, after thorough consideration, I welcomed a Kindle Paperwhite as a Christmas gift for myself a few years ago. Henceforth, I began my e-book reading journey (AKA: drastic reduction in book buying).
What did I do with my books collection then? A friend’s sister opened up a reading cafe which provides assortments of books for customers to peruse while hanging out there. I sorted out boxes of books and donated to her shop. Though I still hold onto few (quite a few to be honest) books on my shelves, I have cleared out spaces previously piled with books, including the small trench of knowledge between my bed and night table, cabinets in the spare bedroom, and few other places where are occupied by some other things now. I am thinking about selling other books which are still in my possessions via online platform. I will have to find time to filter them again, to see which are the ones I should let go.
My route to “reducing my possessions” was not a pure victory. Nevertheless, it has a wonderful start. I have dove into de-cluttering again as the result of reading two of the quintessential books in de-cluttering.
"Danshari: Shin Katazukejutsu" and "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo."
I "KonMari"ed during the lockdown and will share my experience with you guys soon.
